HOT FROM NEW YORK & LOS ANGELES, FAMED RESTAURANT ROBERTA’S COMES TO SYDNEY

On Sunday 9th December, the best pizza in New York and Los Angeles will be served in Surry Hills, when Firedoor
and Roberta’s host a pop-up party to celebrate the last Fireside event of the year.

Well known for their Neapolitan-style pizza and thoughtful array of market/garden-driven pastas, salads and more ,
Roberta’s is a Brooklyn institution, often dubbed America’s most famous pizza with a cult following that includes
Beyonce, Jay-Z, Bill and Hillary Clinton. Head Chef and Owner, Carlo Mirarchi and his “mother” dough starter will
join Lennox and the Firedoor team for an all-day Sunday event, serving up wood-fired pizzas and as well as a select
menu from the grill.

With its two wood-fired ovens, Firedoor has long received requests for pizzas, with diners assuming that a wood fired
oven means pizza feature on the menu. “We still have a large number of diners walk past the restaurant, spot our
open kitchen with food fired ovens and ask, “what pizza’s do you have?” says Restaurant Manager, Raurri Fagan.
Supported by Tourism Australia as part of its ongoing focus to promote Australia’s food and drink culture, Raurri and
Lennox have set out to turn the tables, securing an incredible chef to serve the best pizza for one day only. Both
Firedoor and Roberta’s share a love and deep respect for the base ingredients. “Like me, Carlo gets excited by the
ingredients, which is evident in both Roberta’s and his Two Michelin Star sister restaurant, Blanca” adds Lennox.
By chance, Carlo was in Australia earlier this year. He visited Firedoor in April to experience the restaurant and meet
Lennox in person. It was here the chefs plotted and planned the event to bring an authentic taste of Brooklyn to Surry
Hills, whilst like all Firesides, the event will be a true collaboration with the chefs creating a menu that celebrates both
restaurants.

Infusing its natural character to the Fire & Slice event will be luxury Polish vodka Belvedere. The world-renowned
vodka label celebrates the optimism of two culinary authorities – Firedoor and Roberta’s Pizza – converging to create
a unique, collective food experience. Pouring the house’ new-to-market Single Estate Rye vodka’s, Belvedere Lake
Bartezek and Belvedere Smorgy Forrest, brand ambassador Garth Foster will direct a specialist cocktail menu for the
event.

Messina will also be on hand dishing out dessert, which will include the best Neapolitan ice cream made from the
milk from their own jersey cows, their own chocolate, and fresh strawberries from their farm.
In true Roberta’s style there will be queues, loud music, and limited-edition merchandise with a t-shirt designed by
tattoo artist JED. Firedoor won’t be taking reservations with the team ready to turn tables to ensure all Sydneysiders
all get a slice of the action. The restaurant will open from 1pm and serve pizza’s all the way through until the dough
runs out. The event is made possible thanks to our partners, which include Tourism Australia, Belvedere, and Messina.
